The
end of the cold war has temporary
removed the fear of an all-out
global nuclear war. This is a
very welcome development, however,
in the aviation industry there
has been little time to celebrate
the "new world order."
As soon as cold war antagonists
resolved their differences, historic
conflicts involving ethnic minorities,
religious fundamentalists and
wrangling over old territorial
claims spread throughout the world.
The airline business was again
put on the defensive as a target
for terrorism.
We will all never forget the events
of September 11, 2001 at the Twin
Towers in New York to see how
important security has become.
New
security concerns, are already
posing challenges to the aviation
industry. For example, multinational
criminal and terrorists organizations
are frequently caught attempting
to smuggle people, illegal
weapons, drugs, and even hazardous
materials for the production
of nuclear weapons across
borders by air. It is no secret
that Bangkok, Phnom Penh and
New Delhi are hot-spots for
illegal immigrants and many
airlines are already paying
huge fines when passengers'
documentation does not pass
screening at the point of
disembarkation.
Manufacturers of security
equipment are in constant pursuit of better technology
and developing equipment that can better detect weapons
and explosives. Aircraft manufacturers are designing
a new generation of aircraft that will make it more
difficult for terrorists to conceal weapons and bombs
on board. Other designers are trying to develop aircraft
that will be able to fly even after a major explosion
has occurred on board. Also, airport developers are
working hand-in-hand with manufacturers of screening
equipment in order to improve the detection of bombs
while at the same time trying to speed up the processing
of passengers.
MPA
Ltd., has over
30 years experience in the
aviation security industry.
We are firmly committed to
take up the new security challenges
posed to the airline industry
and we fully expect to continue
to be a leader in aviation
security not only in Bangkok,
Phnom Penh, and New Delhi,
but as soon as it is justified,
we intend to expand our services
to the other countries such
as Vietnam and China.
With
immediate effect we can now
offer professional travel
documentation verification
service as well as passenger
profiling services. This addition
to our other services will
enable us to meet all the
requirement of: ICAO, FAA,
ECAC, etc..
Apart
from these services, we are
working to bring our existing
services to the highest professional
levels. We will achieve this
through improved training,
a more stringent process of
manpower recruitment and improved
supervision at both the supervisory
as well as management levels.
Also, we will continue to
expand our strategic partners
and other international associations
in order to share intelligence
and develop a more global
approach to meet the challenge
from global terrorism.
